Light Level Assessment

What is a Light Level Assessment?

Light or visible light commonly refers to electromagnetic radiation that can be detected by the human eye. The entire electromagnetic spectrum is extremely broad, ranging from low energy radio waves with wavelengths that are measured in meters, to high energy gamma rays with wavelengths that are less than 1 x 10-11 meters. An assessment measures the light levels according to the safety standards.

Why is a Light Level Assessment important?

Poor lighting can lead to eye strain causing headaches, tension, and eye discomfort. Improved workplace lighting can reduce these health effects and can lead to improved attendance. An employee who cannot see properly or who is suffering from vision related pain is more likely to have poor productivity and make more production errors.
