ZDHC MRSL

The ZDHC Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (ZDHC MRSL) is a list of chemical substances banned from intentional use in textile, leather and footwear manufacturing (except metallic trims). Using chemical formulations that meet the requirements of (conform to) ZDHC MRSL allows suppliers to assure both their customers, and themselves, that banned chemical substances are not intentionally used during production and manufacturing processes. Requirements for ZDHC MRSL Conformance Levels:

  • Level 1 – document review of SDS for information relevant to ZDHC MRSL and testing of the formulation, which includes screening and analytical testing or only analytical testing.
  • Level 2 – onsite assessment of management systems plus evidence that Level 1 principles of analytical evaluation for ZDHC MRSL conformance are fulfilled.
  • Level 3 – chemical hazard assessment capability plus evidence that Level 1 and Level 2 principles for.

General Approval Procedure –

Step -1 Application
Complete the application form with company and product details. (format provided by GCL)
Step-2 Contracting
GCL will provide a quotation and the Scheme Rule.
The company will require further documents such as registration documents and the factory licence to complete the contracting procedure.
Step-3 Audit Preparation & planning
GCL will ask for further client information as required in order to plan an audit.
Step-4 Onsite Audit for level- 2 &3
GCL will send an auditor to conduct an onsite audit against ZDHC requirements. The auditor will submit the audit report to GCL ZDHC for final approval.
Step-5 Awarding of Certificate
If successful, the Certificate is awarded and sent to the operator. If unsuccessful, the reason will be stated in the rejection letter and sent to the operator.
GCL International will always reserve rights to take decisions including the granting, maintaining, renewing, extending, reducing, suspending, and withdrawing of certification as stated in the Scheme Rule.
